Ancestry and Tripping.com Executive Joins Outdoorsy to Lead Product as Company Experiences Fast Growth

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 28, 2017 () — Today, Outdoorsy, the largest and most-trusted peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace, announced the hire of Colin Gardiner to the role of Chief Product Officer. Gardiner will lead Outdoorsy’s product teams across user experience, product strategy, affiliate programs and data science as the company expands its platform to a global audience.

Gardiner recently served as Vice President of Product and Analytics at Tripping where he architected and led the rapid growth of the company’s product and marketing strategies, leading the teams across product, user experience,  analytics, and growth.

Before Tripping.com, Gardiner was the Senior Product Manager at Ancestry.com, the global leader in family history and consumer genomics, where he led product and development teams focused on customer acquisition and conversion optimization as well as building out Ancestry’s marketing infrastructure, SEO and user sharing products. Prior to his successful career in tech start-ups Gardiner was a microeconomics economist and researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

“I’m looking forward to developing Outdoorsy’s next-generation outdoor travel marketplace by adding new data and functionality to help connect the over 35 million people looking for great outdoor travel experiences. Building a global community that also provides financial benefits that transform the lives of over 16 million RV owners is very exciting to me,” Gardiner said.

With Gardiner’s hire, Outdoorsy will create an innovative customer-first product experience that will make RV travel accessible to retirees and millennials alike.

Jeff Cavins, Outdoorsy CEO commented “We’re powering the digital revolution in outdoor travel and we share a passion for delighting customers with our products and user experience. In the midst of our rapid growth, with millions of dollars per month in transactions, we are even more committed to a customer first, product roadmap and having Gardiner on board, we could not be more excited about what lies ahead.”

The hiring announcement today represents Outdoorsy’s latest move in establishing its presence into the global outdoor recreational space, and comes on the heels of the launch of the company’s real-time GPS tracking and reporting product called GPSPro.
