BOSTON March 02, 2018

American Consumer Credit Counseling announced today that it has received a $5,000 grant from the Massachusetts State Treasurer’s office for Operation Money Wise Brockton VA. The grant will help support a 10-month financial workshop series to address the financial challenges and educational needs of homeless veterans who are committed to recovery from mental health and addiction problems in a residential therapeutic setting.

“We are incredibly grateful to have the Massachusetts State Treasurer’s office’s generous support for the Operation Money Wise program that will benefit hundreds of local veterans,” said Steve Trumble, President, and CEO of American Consumer Credit Counseling, which is based in Newton, MA. “Financial literacy is a critical life skill, and this workshop series will provide much-needed education and resources to help homeless veterans move forward at this crucial time.”

With this grant, ACCC will be able to serve 295 at-risk veterans over the course of 10 months. The workshop series includes money management workshops, and one-on-one financial coaching sessions with resources to help address the specific financial challenges faced by this vulnerable population. Because credit directly impacts veterans’ ability to move towards self-sufficiency and achieve vital goals, such as housing and employment, the Operation Money Wise Brockton VA workshop series features a particular emphasis on understanding credit.
