Founder & Managing Partner, Howard O. Bernstein, P.C.

“I was working for a Fortune 500 company where I was responsible for analyzing business proposals. I noticed that corporate counsel, who was part of our decision-making process, did not understand accounting, finance, or tax. With my background, I realized I could make a bigger difference as an attorney helping my clients to make financially sound decisions.”

Today, Bernstein and his associate, attorney Amber Reed, provide unsurpassed legal and financial guidance, including litigation and transaction services, to Boulder’s diverse community. Bernstein is well-versed in every aspect of legal financial management, including, though not limited to, drafting a diverse range of documents for corporations and partnerships, international joint venture formation, and tax controversies including representation in the United States Tax Court.

In 2012, Bernstein co-founded AEA Business Consulting LLC, where he provides financial and business support services to businesses in the United States, Asia, and Europe who wish to develop a more international presence. AEA has a presence in New York, Colorado, and London, as well as staff in other locations around the world. Bernstein acts as a Managing Director of AEA in addition to his law firm practice.

As a thought-leader in his field, Bernstein keeps his eye on trends and developments that may affect his clients. He notes specifically:

“Because of what we do, we’re following tax changes very closely. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will impact virtually everyone. Also, we’re paying careful attention to digital currency, including the evolving tax ramifications.”

Bernstein is an active member of the American Academy of Attorney-CPAs, where he served as the President of the Colorado Chapter from 2014 through 2017 and currently serves as the national Secretary. He has authored articles for the Boulder County Bar Newsletter, among other publications, has been an instructor at the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business, and has lectured extensively for the Colorado and Boulder Bar Associations.

Among other honors, Bernstein was the recipient of the 2014 “Best Law Firm” and “Best Lawyer” awards from the Colorado Daily.
