The Toronto-based York Entrepreneurship Development Institute (YEDI) was designated as the top three business accelerators in North America by UBI GLOBAL in 2016. UBI GLOBAL is a Swedish Data and Advisory Firm. Within two years, YEDI has become the number 1 business accelerator linked to any university in the world.

A top university linked incubation program is a business accelerator linked to a higher education institution that accomplishes outstanding impact and performance compared to other similar programs. UBI GLOBAL considers a program to be outperforming the others based on factors such as the value the program provides, the innovation ecosystem, client startups included in the program and the attractive features of the program. Marat Ressin, the founder and president of YEDI, is of opinion that with proper education, guidance and financing, Canadian entrepreneurs are able to give world-class business ideas that will satisfy a particular need, make money and create more job opportunities.
